Cllr Jo Farrar-Astrop

Ward: Capel, Leigh, Newdigate & Charlwood

Liberal Democrat Member

My early career started in advertising. After several years I moved into television and then formed my own company specialising in international media sales and event organisation. During my career I had the chance to work with many interesting people from all over the world (I have even worked with HM King Charles, although he was the Prince of Wales at the time)!

I have lived in this area for 28 years (8 in Brockham and 20 in Newdigate) and really love it. The countryside is beautiful and the amount and diversity of the wildlife is a constant delight. When I moved to Newdigate the friendliness and warmth of the welcome I received really blew me away. I became a member of the village church, joined several local groups and even started one of my own (recreational singing). Were we good? Hmm, did we have fun? Oh yes! My daughter attended the superb village infant school and was blissfully happy. I was so impressed with it I became a school governor for 8 years, which was an incredibly rewarding time. I was also on the pre school committee during my daughters time there and have since worked on the committees of several other Village organisations. Basically I love this area and was delighted to have the chance to stand as a Liberal Democrat council candidate. This is a fantastic area to live in and I want to protect it, promote its smooth running and ensure it will continue to be a great place to live for everyone.
