Cllr Caroline Joseph

Ward: Fetcham

Liberal Democrat Member

I have lived in Fetcham for nearly 10 years, have a small home-based business, and have two young children in the local village schools. I gained valuable experience working in local government services as Senior Business Support for Surrey County Council’s Early Years and Childcare service, a job I enjoyed for nearly 10 years. Prior to that, I moved back to Surrey from Bristol in 2008, having worked for 7 years in many different pubs, clubs, and bars in Bristol city centre as a Door Supervisor. The conflict resolution, and communication skills I gained in the role have proved extremely helpful over the years, in many areas of life.

I’m passionate about the importance of inclusive policies and services, as we are a family who deals with ADHD and Autism; I’ve seen first-hand the challenges faced, particularly by families who have children with SEN, and I believe that we need to do more to support them. I’m looking forward to working with local organisations and charities, to improve access to resources and services for families who need them.

I support the Liberal Democrats’ climate change strategy, and echo residents concerns about raw sewage being pumped into the River Mole and more widely, Britain’s seas.
I’m strongly opposed to inappropriate green belt development, and support the Lib Dems in achieving a local plan that is appropriate for our area.

I will do my utmost to help make Fetcham, and Surrey in general, a better place to live, work, and raise a family.
