Cllr Abhiram Magesh

Ward: Mickleham, Westcott & Okewood

Liberal Democrat Member

Abhiram is a 25 year old student living in Westcott. He attended Wellington College in Berkshire, and while there, experienced a wealth of opportunities, which enriched his educational experience. He is therefore passionate in ensuring the highest quality of education, as he believes education is the key to unlocking one’s potential.

He is partially through completing a medical degree at Queen Mary University of London. While there, he had undertaken various rotations in GPs and Hospitals in London and across the Home Counties. This has given him valuable insight into the challenges the health service faces, and the barriers people have in gaining quality healthcare.

Currently, however, he is undertaking an MA in Law at the University of Law in Guildford. As an immigrant, he has come to appreciate the British values of the rule of law, justice and tolerance and he describes it as a privilege to be able to study how these values manifest within the laws of this country.

As a councillor, he hopes to be a true representation of the people of Mickleham, Westcott and Okewood, and be able to apply the virtues of diligence, open-mindness and conscientiousness to achieving their objectives.
