There are several ways to recycle your Christmas tree in Mole Valley. Garden waste subscribers can recycle real Christmas trees in their kerbside collection. Simply remove all decorations and lights, chop it into smaller pieces so the lid can close, and place inside the garden waste bin.

Alternatively, between 1-17 January 2026, you can drop off your tree at any of these recycling points:

  • Ashtead Peace Memorial Hall
  • Lower Road, Bookham
  • Reigate Road, Dorking (Behind Dorking Halls)
  • Ockley Village Hall

Or, take it to Dorking or Leatherhead community recycling centres (CRCs).

For recycling advice on what to do with items such as wrapping paper, take a look at the handy search tool from Joint Waste Solutions here.

For two years, Surrey County Council has worked with partners across the county to run the Warm Welcome scheme – these are local venues that residents can access for a free hot drink and other support services between November and March.

In essence, a Warm Welcome space is a physical space run by a community group, charity, organisation, or business, where people can come to:

  • Warm up
  • Get a hot drink for free
  • Get energy advice & debt support
  • Enjoy some social interaction
  • In some settings also benefit from additional services such as free meals & activities

Around 1 in 4 homes suffer from water losses, like dripping taps, leaky toilets and outdoor taps and hoses. Colder temperatures and changeable weather can cause a leaky pipe to freeze, and sometimes burst, which could mean a hefty repair bill and an impact to your water supply.

Prepare your home now through checking for leaks and insulating pipes throughout your household. Reducing leaks could even save you money on your bill.

If you need extra support, SES Water is here to help. You may be eligible for one of its water support schemes if you’re having trouble paying your bill, or if you are just in need of some extra assistance.

Visit SES’s Water’s website for more tips and information.

We appreciate it can be confusing to know which service rests with which council.
