Play Area Investment and Refurbishment Programme
We are investing over £3.5 million to improve playgrounds across Mole Valley, creating modern and inclusive play spaces for our communities to enjoy.

What the programme will deliver
The programme will be delivered in phases across the following playgrounds:
- Ashtead Recreation Ground, Ashtead
- Meadowbank, Dorking
- Lower Road, Bookham
- Forty Foot Recreation Ground, Leatherhead
- Kingston Road Recreation Ground, Leatherhead
Each site will be upgraded with new equipment and layouts designed to improve inclusivity and play value.

New destination play area
- A new destination play area in Guildford Road, Leatherhead will provide a larger, high quality play space designed to attract not only the local community, but also families from across the district and beyond, subject to to planning approval.
More detailed information about what is planned at each site will be shared as designs are developed and we’ll ensure that our key stakeholders and communities are engaged and have an opportunity to get involved.
Working with Proludic
Following a competitive procurement process, we’ve appointed Proludic to design and deliver the new and refurbished play spaces and we’re very excited about this partnership.Proludic will work closely with us to:
- Design engaging and inclusive play areas
- Use sustainable materials and long lasting equipment
- Consult with local communities as designs are developed
- Install the new play areas safely and efficiently
Community engagement will be an important part of the programme, particularly listening to children, young people, parents and carers so the new play spaces reflect local needs.
How the programme is funded
The programme is funded through the Strategic Community Infrastructure Levy (SCIL). SCIL is funding collected from new developments and used to invest in vital infrastructure so that local facilities keep pace with growth. This investment supports our Local Plan and long‑term approach to building strong, happy and healthy communities.
Timescales and delivery

Work on the programme began in May 2026 and will be delivered in stages across different locations. The overall programme is expected to be completed in Spring 2028. Each site will have its own timetable. Residents will be informed in advance of construction works, including any temporary disruption while improvements are carried out.
Keeping communities informed
We are committed to keeping residents and stakeholders informed throughout the programme. This page will be updated with:
