Cllr Andrew Matthews

Ward: Bookham East & Eastwick Park

Liberal Democrat Member

I have lived in the Bookham and Fetcham area for over 35 years and went to local schools. I live in Bookham with my wife and family.

I work as a Railway Signalling Engineer, and I am regularly part of a team upgrading the railway infrastructure, I have recently been involved with projects at Victoria and at Feltham. I enjoy spending my spare time campaigning and volunteering in the community.

I volunteer at South Bookham SPACE where I am a trustee and facilities officer, and I maintain and oversee projects to continually improve the centre. I have also worked with the residents associations on projects to improve our villages, and I enjoy taking part in the monthly litter picks.I have been running a campaign for better accessibility and improvements at Bookham Station, and so far have secured new accessible station toilets, delivered funding for the new station bench by the bus stop, and am responsible for securing new information display screens on the platforms.

As a Councillor, I try to represent the community, and stand up for families caring for relatives. I support residents with local issues including anti-social behaviour, and challenge the council to improve facilities and services. I work on several committees and I have an interest in ensuring that Mole Valley’s beautiful countryside is protected.
