Community Funding and Grants

Grants will be be considered from organisations that deliver valuable services to Mole Valley residents and support our Corporate Strategy priorities.

The funding round for applications to the Capital Fund for the year 2025/26 is now open.

Please complete an Expression of Interest form to register your interest.

Based on the information provided, we will advise you whether your project or organisation meets the eligibility criteria and provide an application form.

The deadline for the submission of an Expression of Interest is Friday 13th September 2024.

Providing you with an application form does not guarantee that your application will be successful.

Different grant funds available:

The funding round for applications for the year 2025/26 is now open.

Available for capital projects, such as:

  • community building improvements
  • new playground equipment
  • sports facilities

Funding applications up to £20,000 are recommended. 

Each application will be assessed, but due to limited resources, not all applications may be successful.

Grant payments will be made after April 2025, on completion of your project and receipt of supplier invoices.

Surrey Community Action provide expert advice on any and all matters to do with the operation and management of community buildings in Surrey.

Chart Downs Community Centre – £10,000 in 2024/25

  • To help fund the installation of a new boiler.

Leatherhead Community Hub – £25,000 in 2024/25

  • To help fund the renovation of the front of the LCH building

Charlwood Parish Hall – £20,000 in 2023/24

  • Contribution towards structural work on the Parish Hall.

North Holmwood Village Hall – £5,000 in 2023/24

  • Funding towards structural work on the Village Hall building.

Oakwood Hill Village Hall – £12,500 in 2023/24

  • Contribution towards the cladding of the Village Hall.

South Bookham SPACE – £12,500 in 2023/24

  • Funding towards the purchase of solar panels for the centre.

The Leatherhead Institute – £10,000 in 2023/24

  • Funding towards the replacement of the building’s windows.

Headley Village Hall – £12,000 in 2022/23

  • Funding towards the improvements to the Hall’s outdoor recreation area and toilet facilities.

Westcott Sports Club – £5,000 in 2022/23

  • Contribution towards the resurfacing of the driveway.

Pending a review of the Thomas Flack Trust Fund in relation to its income from property assets, the grant fund will not open for applications as usual in April 2024. Please continue to visit the webpage for updates.

  • Funding towards an art installation to commemorate the 20th anniversary of the formal twinning

Leatherhead & Dorking Gymnastics Club – £5,000 in 2024/25

  • Funding towards the purchase of sensory equipment

Leatherhead Community Hub – £10,000 in 2024/25

  • To help fund the renovation of the front of the LCH building

Fetcham Residents Association – £2,489 in 2023/24

  • Contribution towards the purchase of a new village sign

Friends of Oakfield Junior School – £1,500 in 2023/24

  • Contribution towards the reinstatement of the local community pond

South Bookham SPACE – £10,000 in 2023/24

  • Funding towards the purchase of solar panels for the centre.

Ashtead Tennis Players Club – £5,000 in 2022/23

  • Funding towards the installation of floodlights

B@titude – £4,073 in 2022/23

  • To help fund equipment costs

Intergenerational Music Making – £500 in 2022/23

  • Funding towards music sessions

Parochial Church Council of Leatherhead – £12,500 in 2022/23

  • To help fund the installation of a new kitchen

We provide revenue funding through our property investment vehicle MOVA to three organisations which have been identified as playing a significant role in helping us meet our wellbeing priorities.

Revenue grant applications are considered on a three-year cycle.

Organisations receiving funding in 2024/25

Citizen’s Advice Mole Valley – £120,000

  • To support provision of free advice service for everyone living and working in Mole Valley

East Surrey Domestic Abuse Service – £15,735

  • To provide specialist domestic abuse outreach services to Mole Valley residents and to manage the ‘Sanctuary Scheme’ within Mole Valley

Central Surrey Voluntary Action – £12,000

  • To resource on-going core work as a community and voluntary support service with integrated volunteer centre

Christmas activities

We contribute towards Christmas lights and activities in town centres across Mole Valley, including Dorking, Leatherhead, Ashtead, Bookham and Fetcham.

Closed churchyards

We provide funding for the maintenance of churchyards which are closed to burials, including those at St. Nicholas, Great Bookham, St. Margaret’s, Ockley, St. John’s Chapel and Holy Trinity Church, Westcott, and St. Martin’s Church, Dorking.

Priority will be given to organisations that:

  • show they will deliver improvements in at least one of our Corporate Strategy priority areas
  • show they have community support
  • work collaboratively with other agencies, organisations and individuals
  • raise funding through as many sources as possible
  • demonstrate that a grant will help to attract or unlock funding from other sources
