If the light is sufficiently severe and interferes with the comfort and enjoyment of someone else’s home, we have the power to take formal action on the person responsible.

Types of light pollution

  • Domestic security lights
  • Commercial security lights
  • Sports facilities
  • Domestic decorative lighting

But exclude:

  • Airports
  • Railway premises
  • Bus stations
  • Public service vehicle operating centres
  • Prisons
  • Defence premises
  • Goods vehicle operating premises
