Povey Cross Road Survey
Mole Valley District Council (MVDC) invited residents who live on Povey Cross Road and Forge Place to share their views, and any concerns or specific incidents that they have experienced, between Friday 14 February and Friday 7 March 2025.
MVDC is responding to reports of anti-social behaviour and wanted to fully understand the issues that are occurring in this location, and any such impact on residents.
MVDC met with partner agencies in April to review the findings of the survey and look into options to improve the situation at the site.
Key Points Coming Out of Survey results
- Gatwick Airport and Surrey Highways to cut back the verges, making the area more open to help discourage anti-social behaviour at the roadside
- MVDC’s street cleaning contractor to clean road surface to ensure double yellow lines clearly visible
- MVDC’s Joint Enforcement Team to continue regular patrols
- Gatwick Airport to circulate leaflet advising of facilities available at Gatwick Airport for taxis and private hire vehicles
- Gatwick Airport and Surrey Highways to investigate whether information boards advising of facilities can be put up along Povey Cross Road
The use of a Public Spaces Protection Order (PSPO) as an enforcement tool was discussed and ultimately considered not suitable at this stage given other suggested steps to be taken first.
