Listed Buildings

There are more than 1,000 listed buildings in Mole Valley.

A listed building can be a house, wall, public building, monument, memorial or any structure that is included on the Statutory List of Buildings of Special Architectural or Historic interest.

A list of the buildings, organised on a parish basis, has been compiled by the Department for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport, as advised by Historic England.

Inclusion on the list means that the structure is given special protection through legislation contained in the Planning Acts.

Submitting a planning application for a listed building (Listed Building Consent)

If you would like to submit an application for Listed Building Consent, you can do this online via the Planning Portal.

The National Heritage List for England

Historic England maintain the National Heritage List online database, which brings together information on all nationally designated heritage assets in one place. This includes:

• Listed Buildings
• Scheduled Monuments
• Protected Wreck Sites
• Registered Parks and Gardens
• Registered Battlefields

However, you can apply for a heritage asset to be protected by designation, including listing buildings, through the Historic England website
