Cllr David Draper
DORKING NORTH
David was born in Tunbridge Wells, Kent. After attending the Skinner's School in Tunbridge Wells, he began work in the Midland (now HSBC) Bank. After six years David decided to move into a career in teaching and trained at London University, gaining a BA (Hons) and an MA. Teaching began in Dorking, at St Paul's School, and then a move to Reigate. This was followed by two headships, in South Godstone and Esher. After eleven years as Head in Esher David moved abroad.

Over the period 1990-1998 David was a Mole Valley District Councillor for Dorking South. During that time he helped to oversee the redevelopment of Dorking Halls.
David's first move abroad was to Ankara, Turkey, as head of the British Embassy School, where he worked for nine years. He was then invited to open the first British School in Baku, Azerbaijan, where he worked until 2013. David has now retired to Dorking, is working part-time as an educational consultant, and is glad to be 'recycled' onto Mole Valley District Council.
