We need your comments to help improve the Housing Allocations Scheme

Our Housing Allocations Scheme outlines how we allocate social housing available to residents on the housing register.

It includes: 

  • who can apply for housing
  • how we assess and prioritise applicants for housing
  • how we allocate homes
  • our policy on applicant choice and preference.

About the consultation

We are reviewing the Housing Allocation Scheme and are consulting both the public and our partner housing providers.  

Whilst some elements of the allocation scheme are set out in the legislation, we do have some discretion regarding qualification for the scheme. This includes the income and savings thresholds which we set to households applying for the housing register. This is one area which has been reviewed, as has our rural connection policy.  We would like to know what you think - please review the new Draft Allocations Scheme document below.

How long the consultation will run

The consultation period began on Monday 7 November 2022 and had been due to end at until midnight on Sunday 4 December 2022. However, to provide more time for responses, the deadline has been extended to midnight on Monday 2 January 2023.
