£150 Government Energy Rebate 2022

As part of the government’s initiative to help households with rising energy costs, they have announced a £150 Energy Rebate for certain households from April.

Most householders in council tax band A to D properties will qualify for this rebate if you were the liable taxpayer on 1 April 2022. Some properties won’t be eligible, including second homes and empty properties. You can read the full eligibility criteria online.

The rebate will be in the form of a direct payment, rather than deducting it from your Council Tax bill for 2022 - 23.

You must continue to pay your council tax bill as per the amounts and dates shown on your bill. If you are struggling to pay, please contact us.

If you pay by Direct Debit

If you were eligible for the £150 energy rebate and pay your council tax by Direct Debit, you will have received the payment into your account on Tuesday 24 May 2022. If you have any questions or concerns regarding your payment, please call our Council Tax team on 01306 879293.

If you pay by other means

Eligible households that have chosen not to pay their council tax by direct debit, and those residents who intend to or have only very recently signed up to pay by direct debit, needed to complete our energy rebate application form by 24 June 2022.

When will I get my payment?

If you did not receive your payment on Tuesday 24 May 2022 and we have contacted you by letter, you will need to complete our online energy rebate application (please see above for further information). Once we have received your application, you will receive payment into your bank account by the end of June 2022.

Please do not contact us to chase this payment.

What if I am not in a Band A to D Property?

If you are not in a band A to D property but still need help there will be some further funding available to help households who don’t qualify under the main scheme.
