Get involved with The Great Big Green Week

The Great Big Green Week, taking place between 24 September to 2 October is the UK’s biggest celebration of community action to tackle climate change and protect nature.

We are encouraging residents to get involved in a number of ways:

Making a pledge

We are asking you to make a two-month pledge to reduce your carbon impact.

Make a pledge ›

Visit the DoNation website and log your pledge. You can pledge to donate your unwanted clothes, taking shorter showers or ditching disposable cups. There are plenty of inspiring actions you can choose from, plus you will also see the impact our pledges together will make on the website.

Small actions really do add up to make a big difference!

Refilling in Mole Valley

You can make a positive impact by reducing your plastic waste. Switch to a reusable water bottle and fill it up for free at one of the 76 refill stations in Mole Valley. See our website for the full list or download the Refill app to see the locations.

If you are a Mole Valley business and haven’t signed up to the scheme yet, it’s really quick and easy to do. Simply visit the Refill app or email to sign up – and help us make it to 100 refill stations in the district!

Going Green

Take a look at our ‘Going Green’ pages. They are packed with ideas on how to live more sustainably and cover four key areas: food, for the home, reducing, reusing and recycling and travel.

Buying a lottery ticket

Buying a ticket in the Mole Valley Community Lottery and selecting the ‘Environment Fund’ as your cause will help us plant more trees in the district. Tickets cost just £1 per week and players will have the chance to win weekly cash prizes up to £25,000!

Visiting the Circular Dorking launch event

On Saturday 24 September, between 9.30am to 3pm in St Martin’s Walk, Dorking, Circular Dorking, a business, and community-led initiative to help create a better place is holding a free family launch event to celebrate The Great Big Green Week. Visitors will be able to explore stalls demonstrating ideas on sustainable living and eco-friendly shops will be displaying their products.

Getting your school to request our ‘Rewild Mole Valley’ resource pack

We are also encouraging local schools to engage more with nature by dedicating land to re-wilding schemes. Our ‘Rewild Mole Valley’ resource pack has plenty of information on useful apps, national schemes and advice on becoming an eco-school. Email to request a pack.

How we’re tacking Climate Change

We have made significant progress in making our operations carbon neutral by 2030. Our Climate Change Strategy provides a clear plan of how will work towards our target.
