Mole Valley District Council (MVDC) is able to provide advice and guidance to help you to determine if planning permission is required for a development or a change of use, whether you are a homeowner, a business or a farmer.
The council's website contains a number of links providing information and good practice documents. Surrey County Council is the Highways Authority for Mole Valley, and provides guidance on highway issues as part of the planning process.
Guidance on vehicle and cycle parking was published by Surrey County Council in January 2012. The document can be viewed using the link on the right hand side.
The County Council has commended this guidance to the District and Borough Councils in Surrey for use within local planning policy. It is intended to be flexible and is to be used as considered appropriate at District level.
In the fullness of time, MVDC may publish District-specific parking standards based on the Guidance, but adapted to local circumstances. In the interim, the 2012 Guidance will be the starting point for decisions about parking provision on development sites, and is more up to date than the provisions of Policy MOV5 (Parking Standards) of the Mole Valley Local Plan.
Developments will normally be expected to accord with the Guidance. The Planning Authority will consider exceptions based upon the circumstances on site, including highway conditions, availability of on-street parking, and the accessibility of alternative modes of transport. Prospective developers are therefore advised to seek pre-application advice about parking requirements on a specific site.
