Welcome to Mole Valley Online / Environmental Health / Pollution / Contaminated LandContaminated LandResearch and Development The following work has been carried out by Mole Valley with the assistance of Local Authorities and the private sector. Downloads are on the right hand side of the page. 1. Mole Valley District Council and SLR Consulting (2009). Human Health Generic Assessment Criteria for Petroleum Hydrocarbons: Position Paper. 2. Sample Handling Application- producing handling and error checking standardised electronic lab data. Buying A Property- Potentially makes you liable for previous historic contamination The Environmental Protection Act 1990 Part IIa makes provision for the Local Authority to allocate responsibilities for historical contamination on polluters and landowners (including householders). Therefore when you purchase a property you should ensure you know its history and wider environmental setting. There are a number of bespoke historical environmental information providers in the marketplace which for a modest price can provide information about subsidence risks, flooding and even waste and radiation licences some of these are listed below:
Most of the above providers offer a limited free assessment of the location you are interested in. Obviously this is not completely comprehensive and if you are at all concerned about any of the information they will either provide you with a more comprehensive report for around £40 or you can use the Council's own reporting service. The cost of this is £91 for a simple residential query or £125 for a more complicated enquiry, which will be agreed at the time of the enquiry. The cost of a report on a commercial premises starts at £125. A sample of the Council's reports is included in the Downloads section of the page (right of the screen). If you are interested in any further information then please complete the form below or call Environmental Health on 01306 885001. Contaminated Land Form Printer Friendly Version
