Comment on an Application

How to make Comments on an application. Comments must be made in writing to the Head of Planning at the Council Offices, Pippbrook, Dorking, RH4 1SJ, within 21 days of the date of the notification letter. They can be sent by post, by e-mail to planning@molevalley.gov.uk, or online using the "Comment on this application" facility on the application details pages.

Comments should be on matters relevant to planning, such as the likely effects of the proposal on local amenities, land use and character, the environment and countryside, traffic and parking. The effect on property values and private interests such as covenants cannot be taken into account.

All letters of representation received on planning applications will be available for public inspection at the Council Offices, and will be published on the Council's website. If you do not wish to disclose your telephone number, e-mail address or other information of a confidential nature, please do not include this information in your letter. You must however provide your name and address or your letter of representation will be rejected.

Individual letters of representation will be acknowledged in writing. However, where a number of identical letters of representation are received these will be treated in the same way as a petition. Petitions will be made available for viewing in the Council Offices and on the Council's website, but will not be acknowledged.

Viewing letters of representation on the website. Letters of representation and petitions will be made available for viewing in the Council Offices and on the Council's website as soon as possible after receipt. However, please be aware that e-mail and on-line representations are not updated in real time and you will not be able to view your letter immediately. Letters of representation submitted by post are generally made available for viewing on the web within 5 working days of receipt.

Please note that letters of representation are removed from the web once an application has been decided. However, copies of these letters can still be viewed at our offices.
