Elections 2009

European and Surrey County Council Elections 2009

On Thursday 4th June 2009 there will be European Parliamentary and Surrey County Council elections taking place across the District.

The vast majority of electors will be able to vote at both European and County Council elections when they go to the polling station or vote by post or proxy.  Poll cards will be issued at the end of April to inform electors about their eligibility to vote at either or both of these elections.

Surrey County Council elections are taking place in all six divisions within the Mole Valley District Council area.  One county councillor is to be elected in each of these divisions: Ashtead, Bookham & Fetcham West, Dorking & the Holmwoods, Dorking Hills, Dorking Rural and Leatherhead and Fetcham East.  The poll cards will indicate in which division the elector is voting.

Voting if you are a European Union citizen
European Union citizens who have not opted to vote at the European election in this country (via the form recently sent to them) will only be allowed their local Surrey County Council vote.  To be able to vote in the European election, they will need to return to their home country.

If you are a citizen of a European Union country, wish to vote in the UK at the European election and have not yet returned your form to the Democratic Services office, please do so before 19 May at the very latest.  Alternatively, contact Democratic Services on 01306 879137/139/384/355

Mole Valley District Council - Statement

The Council wishes to make clear that it is not responsible for the printing of a Liberal Democrat Dorking Hills Focus Newsletter which promotes a candidate for the County Council elections on 4th June 2009. The newsletter inadvertently states that it was printed by MVDC but it was printed by MVPS (Mole Valley Printing Society). The political party has confirmed that there was a printing error which will be clarified in their next newsletter.
