MVDC Invests £1.1 million in Leatherhead High Street
Mole Valley District Council has acquired the freehold and buildings at 21 and 23 High Street, Leatherhead as part of its Transform Leatherhead initiative for £1.1 million.
Councillor Charles Yarwood, Executive Member for Assets and Investments said, "We are delighted that Mole Valley was able to secure these High Street retail units adjacent to the Swan Centre which will complement the on-going work of the Transform Leatherhead initiative.
"As part of the Transform Leatherhead project, Mole Valley District Council has recently completed the procurement of a multi-disciplinary team to develop an evidence based development recommendation for the Swan Centre, to act as a catalyst to revitalise the High Street. This will be reported to the Executive in February 2019. The purchase of these two retail units will now form a key part of this essential study.
"As stakeholders on Leatherhead High Street, Mole Valley District Council has the opportunity to positively influence the retail offer."
Transform Leatherhead is Mole Valley District Council's plan to rejuvenate, expand and transform Leatherhead town centre.
