Small-Grants Community Fund

The Small-Grants Community Fund has been created to offer support to charities, community and voluntary groups that carry out valuable work within their communities, building increased community resilience and self-reliance. Grants up to £5,000 are available for revenue costs or for small improvements to community buildings. Funding rounds are quarterly and the next application deadline is 31 March 2020. Please be advised that there is a limited amount of money available for small grants for the remainder of the current financial year.

Complete the Expression of Interest form below to find out if your organisation and project meets the eligibility criteria.

Based on the information you have provided, we will advise you if your project or organisation meets our eligibility criteria. We will also provide you with a grant application form if relevant and give you the deadlines for applying. Please note that providing you with this information and an application form does not guarantee that your application will be successful. Ensure when submitting an Expression of Interest that you allow yourself enough time following this to complete a full application before the next deadline.

Who has been awarded grant funding?

In the first three quarters of 2019/20, fourteen groups have received grants totalling £49,628.

Bookham Community Association - £4,500

  • Funding towards the fitting of a fire alarm system at the Old Barn Community Hall in Bookham.  

Bookham Retail and Business Association - £1,300

  • Matched funding towards one-off costs to install new permanent electrical outlets for the Christmas lights in Bookham.

Crossroads Care - £5,000

  •  Funding to provide additional respite care on a regular basis for home-based Carers within Mole Valley .

Dorking Men's Shed - £2,365

  • Funding towards equipping a former disused chapel for use as a workshop. Men's Shed is an organisation for people (mainly older men) to meet with like-minded people to engage in social activities and practical DIY.

Freewheelers Theatre and Media - £3,618

  • Funding towards the staging of a new production 'Do Not Disturb' at the Leatherhead Theatre by theatre group for people with disabilities.

Girls ALIVE - £5,000

  • Contribution towards the start up costs of the organisation. Girls ALIVE is a Dorking-based network of volunteer lead groups participating in various sporting activities.

Leatherhead Institute - £5,000

  • Contribution towards emergency refurbishment of the ladies toilets following a water leak.

Mid Surrey Community Fridges - £2,311

  •  To support the delivery of surplus food which would otherwise go to waste to rural housing estates in Mole Valley.  

North Holmwood Village Hall - £4,790 

  • Funding towards essential repairs and refurbishment of the Village Hall, including the safe removal and disposal of asbestos.

Relate Mid Surrey - £5,000

  • To raise awareness of their family counselling services with the goal of reinstating an outpost in Mole Valley.

Reflections Angling - £2,440

  • Funding towards Angling Courses for Mole Valley residents who do not normally have access to angling, including those who have special needs.

Shakespeare Schools Foundation - £5,000

  • To bring the Shakespeare Schools Festival to Mole Valley, working with children in local schools to improve life skills, promote social cohesion, and increase educational attainment.

Surrey Hills Society - £750

  • To help fund a community event celebrating the local landscape, including workshops leading up to the event, engaging groups including those suffering mental health issues in activities that fulfil the Wheel of Wellbeing for mind, body, place and people.

Synergy Dance - £2,554

  • To help fund yoga and wellbeing classes in Dorking for 11-16 year olds.
