Annual Canvass 2017

Every year we carry out a household canvass to ensure that the electoral register is up to date.

This year's canvass will take place from July to November 2017 in readiness for publication of the revised register of electors on 1 December 2017.

It is essential that you respond to any correspondence sent to ensure you are included in the revised register and can vote in the local elections taking place in some parts of Mole Valley in May 2018. Not being included on the register means you will not be able to vote in future elections, and may also affect your credit rating.

What we're doing

In July 2017, we will send a 'Household Enquiry Form' (HEF), to every household in Mole Valley. The form will be addressed to 'The Occupier' and will contain the details of all those in the household who are currently registered. If we do not have any electors currently registered at an address, the form will be blank.

What you need to do

You need to confirm that the details of those living at your address are correct, or update the details if any of the information is incorrect. Anyone in the household can respond to the form.

Please respond to the HEF as promptly as possible as this will avoid the need for us to send a reminder, and later a canvasser having to visit your home.

Are all the details correct?

If the details are correct, you can respond online, by telephone, or by signing and returning the completed form in the post.

Incorrect or missing details

If the details are incorrect (for example, someone has moved away or moved in), you can respond online or amend and return the form to us using the envelope provided.

What happens next?

If you confirm that there are no changes, the details we currently hold will be included in the revised electoral register published on 1 December 2017.

We will send an 'Invitation to Register' (ITR) to any new electors added to the HEF. This will enable them to register individually. Alternatively, new electors can register online at www.gov.uk/registertovote.

If you tell us that someone has moved out, we will send a letter confirming that we intend to remove their name from the register.
