Dorking Football Ground in Meadowbank - October 2017 Update
The work to complete the range of exciting community facilities at the new development in Meadowbank Park has taken slightly longer than anticipated before its doors open for the first time. The completed facilities will be a fantastic asset not only to the district, but the whole of Surrey, and it will be well worth the wait.
Mole Valley District Council (MVDC) has invested £5million in the sports facility and also secured £500,000 through the Sport England Improvement Fund towards the provision of state-of-the-art football facilities.
Residents, visitors and local junior clubs can look forward to taking advantage of a 3G pitch, floodlights, stands, clubhouse, changing room, new headquarters for Surrey FA, new home for Dorking Wanderers FC, soft play, café facilities and public toilets.
You can follow the project by visiting the Meadowbank Park website.
Work began on site in September 2016, beginning with the ground being levelled off, all excess soil removed and foundations for the buildings made.
December will mark the completion of the external building work and the focus will immediately then turn to fitting-out the facility. Once the necessary Health and Safety checks have been completed, the anticipated opening date is at the end of January.
Surrey FA and Dorking Wanderers remain fully committed and excited at the prospect of the development's completion. Dorking Wanderers will play the first few months of the 2017/18 season at their current home ground and both Surrey FA and MVDC will be working closely with local clubs to find alternative facilities for the start of the season until the completion date.
Surrey FA are in the process of booking slots for the youth teams in the district, who will have preferential access to the 3G pitch. Residents and visitors will be able to book the pitch, with demand expected to be high.
