When buying a property you could be liable for any previous contamination issues on that land, so please ensure that you know its history and wider environmental setting prior to completing the purchase.
There are a number of bespoke historical environmental information providers in the marketplace which could help you to assess a property, including the Groundsure, Homecheck and Landmark/Envirosearch websites.
Many providers offer a limited free assessment of the location you are interested in, but these are not completely comprehensive and if you are at all concerned about any of the information, you can obtain a more comprehensive report for a fee.
Alternatively, you could use Mole Valley District Council's own reporting service which costs £91 for a simple residential query or £125 for a more complicated enquiry. The price will be agreed at the time of the enquiry. The cost of a report on a commercial premises starts at £125. VAT is not charged.
