Mole Valley District Council provides free household clinical waste collections of sharps boxes and yellow clinical waste sacks.

How you dispose of healthcare and clinical waste depends on the type.
Offensive (hygiene) waste

These can be double wrapped and placed in your black general waste bin provided they are not contaminated with infectious materials and/or cytotoxic or cytostatic drugs.
Dressings, bandages, swabs contaminated with:
These should be placed in a yellow clinical waste bag. This is collected as part of our clinical waste collection, provided by PHS. Please do not place this waste in your general rubbish.
Dressings not contaminated can be double wrapped and placed in your black general waste bin.
This includes syringes, needles and other sharp instruments.
ALL sharps should be placed in special sharps boxes available on prescription from a GP or healthcare professional. They are collected as part of our clinical waste collection, provided by PHS. Do not place sharps in your general rubbish.
Take unwanted or out of date medicines to your local pharmacy. Do not place in your general rubbish. We cannot accept medicines as part of our clinical waste collection as our contractor are not licensed to carry medicines.
Medicine and medical product packaging
Empty and uncontaminated packaging and containers, including cardboard boxes, paper instructions and clean plastic bottles can be placed in your green recycling bin.
