Economic Prosperity Strategy Update - October 2019

Mole Valley District Council's Economic Prosperity Strategy has made significant progress in key areas and identified further projects to support future prosperity in the district.

The report going to Cabinet on 22nd October, highlights what has been achieved so far and sets out new projects that are to be undertaken from November onwards including: creating a Business Leaders Group, a series of Learning Lunches and production of an Inward Investment Prospectus for the district.

Cabinet Member for Sustainable Economy, Councillor Clayton Wellman said, "An extensive range of economic development projects are underway to support and boost businesses in Mole Valley. This report details the positive work we are doing with businesses and partners across the district.

"We are particularly proud of the work we've done this year on our Business Support Programme objective. Upskilling 39 local businesses with an extensive digital business skills course this summer has seen real returns. Businesses reported increased turnover and networking opportunities following their involvement and there are further follow up sessions still to come to further boost the course's effectiveness.

"Following our Rural Summit in February this year, we are looking to prioritise broadband access to our rural communities, together with a new, one year post for an additional member of staff to support delivery of this much desired objective.

"We are keen that businesses engage with us so they can hear more and get involved. We have a business Twitter page and our new Economic Spotlight regular email update. If businesses wish to be kept updated about future training initiatives they can contact . We urge businesses to connect with us."
