Caravan Incursion on Lower Road Recreation Ground
Update: Friday 23 August at 11am:
The remaining caravans and associated vehicles left the site on Thursday evening. The group has vacated Mole Valley.
Officers from MVDC, including the Joint Enforcement Team, inspected the Recreation Ground first thing this morning. There was minimal waste left at the site. MVDC would like to thank the group of local residents who volunteered their time to help the litter pick alongside MVDC's waste contractors and staff. The Recreation Ground has now been cleared of rubbish.
Update: Thursday 22 August at 10am: A summons was served on the individuals who remained on site on Wednesday 21 August. MVDC was granted an order after attending court that afternoon and the court order was served later the same day. Those on site are required to leave within 24 hours of the order being served.
Update: Tuesday 20 August at 1.15pm: MVDC is aware that 15 caravans and several other vehicles entered onto Lower Road Recreation Ground in Bookham yesterday evening, Monday 19 August.
MVDC owns the land at Lower Road and its Joint Enforcement Team, supported by the Police, visited the site on the morning of Tuesday 20 August to conduct necessary checks. MVDC has served the individuals with a Notice of Direction, and they will be required to leave the site today.
Together with the Police, MVDC will continue to closely monitor the situation at the Recreation Ground and take further action where appropriate.
