First parkrun in Mole Valley an Overwhelming Success
Eager participants took delight in being part of the inaugural parkrun in Mole Valley on the morning of Saturday 17 March 2018. This free and inclusive 5km winding route saw a range of ages and abilities run, jog or walk through the beautiful surroundings of Denbies Wine Estate, marking the start of weekly parkruns being held at the Dorking vineyard.
Mole Valley District Council (MVDC) ended its two year search for a suitable site to host the popular parkrun event in the district after Denbies Wine Estate came forward last year. The introduction of Mole Valley's parkrun means Dorking is now officially one of more than 400 locations across the country to host this fun and accessible activity. You can register for the Dorking parkrun or any other parkrun, which are all totally free, by visiting www.parkrun.org.uk. They are open to all abilities, from experienced athletes to first-timers, and are held on every Saturday morning 9am.
Parkrun HQ spokesperson: "We are delighted with the launch of Mole Valley parkrun and are very grateful for the support of Denbies Vineyard and Mole Valley District Council in bringing parkrun, a free weekly timed 5k event for all ages and abilities to the area."
Jeannette Simpson, Denbies Chief Operating Officer, said: "Denbies is delighted to be supporting the weekly Parkrun and in spite of unseasonal weather, the turnout for the inaugural run was tremendous. The Parkrun route offers great views over the vineyard, Dorking and Box Hill, a very welcome addition to the Mole Valley."
