Ambitious Strategy to Improve Car Parking District-Wide
At Mole Valley District Council's (MVDC) Executive meeting on 27 March, the Scrutiny Committee will recommend that the Executive adopt a comprehensive car parking strategy detailing a number of improvements for the next five years.
The strategy is supported by an ambitious action plan that includes initiatives to improve the quality of MVDC's car parks.
Developing a detailed maintenance programme which will include looking at car park layouts to ensure the best use is being made of the space available
- Upgrading car parking machines enabling customers to pay by card and Apple Pay, as well as retaining the options to pay by cash or RingGo
- Exploring differential charging rates and reviewing the permit schemes
- Developing a scheme for the roll out of electric vehicle charge points
A key focus of the strategy will be engagement with car park users and local businesses to ensure that the proposed changes meet the needs of Mole Valley's towns and villages. Informed by feedback from users and businesses, MVDC will review its car park enforcement policy to ensure that enforcement is fair and consistent.
Councillor David Mir, Executive Member for Environment and Parking, said "Thank you to the Scrutiny Panel, which developed this forward-thinking, comprehensive strategy. We look forward to working with the panel to implement the initiatives.
"The objectives are very much informed by our commitment to ensuring parking provision balances the needs of both residents and local businesses."
