Dorking's Gala Night Set To Be Biggest Ever in 2017!
Dorking Town Centres' biggest annual shopping event is expected to bring in a sleigh full of extra shoppers this year!
"This year's Gala Night on 7th December is set to be Dorking's biggest ever", said Councillor Simon Edge, Executive Member for Economic Development & Transform Leatherhead, as he described this year's Gala Night in Dorking, a community event run jointly by Mole Valley District Council, Dorking's Chamber of Commerce and Dorking Town Partnership."
Councillor Edge continued, "Last year's Gala Night saw thousands of local people soak up the festive atmosphere on the pedestrianised High Street whilst choosing Christmas gifts for friends and family. The real reindeer were a huge hit with the children, as was the fire performer and the fabulous dance displays from local schools, not to mention the snow machine.
"Highlights this year will include; the welcome return of the real reindeer for the children to pet, the snow machine, fairground rides in St Martin's walk, Father Christmas in South Street Gardens, Dorking's Hall's Sleeping Beauty panto cast, the popular fire performer and free face painting. Dorking's businesses embrace the festivities and throw their doors open welcoming in shoppers throughout the night. Music will accompany the shoppers during the evening, as will local Morris Dancers, The Rampant Roosters. Local musical talent will include a band from the Priory School, Greensand, Loud and Proud choir and Coldharbour Village Band. St Martin's church will be hosting a living nativity scene.
"With all this wonderful entertainment and activities on offer we are expecting a very busy evening in the Town Centre so do come along and shop local on this night.
